BIG Changes at Sims Buick-GMC!

We got a face lift!

Check out our newly remodeled Dealership; our first major change since 1973! We now have a 21st century look along with 42 years of being in business in Warren.

The changes include a new Customer Lounge area with very comfortable furniture, made near by in Michigan. The Sims Buick- GMC lounge is now FOUR AND A HALF times larger than before! We have a large flat screen TV and a convenient customer work area with free WIFI.  A children’s play area with child sized seating is attached to the lounge area to ensure the comfort of the little ones as well.
Our newly redesigned Service Area has an enclosed customer write up area directly connected to the Customer Lounge.  Drive in to the Service Department and you will be greeted by John Cameneti or Dan Howell, who will be happy to assist with all of your automotive needs.  Don’t forget our TOP OFF SERVICE for all Sims Buick-GMC customers.  If your vehicle fluids are low but it’s not time for normal maintenance, our Service Department will top off your oil or washer fluid at no charge.  We’ve extended our Service and Parts Department hours to make scheduling maintenance on your vehicle easy and hassle free.

We also have Dale Barbie, our technology guru, to assist with any questions you may have concerning any of your vehicle’s gadgets. Whether it’s resetting your Blue Tooth, understanding how to properly link your Intellilink system to your Smart Phone, or just resetting your clock- we‘re here to help! If Dale is not available, Chuck Richards is our Sales Department’s technology expert and can also answer any questions that you may have.

We’ve also redesigned our Parts Department with a new retail counter area. We have the items you need in stock to help maintain and/or accessorize your vehicle.  This includes bed liners, all weather floor mats, mud flaps, GMC caps, batteries, upholstery and carpet cleaner, wiper blades, and much more! We will be happy to install any accessories to save you time and money.

We are so proud of our new showroom entrance! It is well lit by our newly installed energy efficient, glare resistant, solar glass windows made near by in Western Pennsylvania. We have also replaced the showroom floor with beautiful ceramic tile and remodeled all of our sales offices. We are proud to say that all of our comfortable new furniture is American made. Our newly installed phone system helps us easily and efficiently communicate with all of our different departments.

But don’t worry, we still have our popcorn machine :)

The Check Engine Light: A Cause for Panic?

Yikes, that looks serious! The red light, the word "CHECK" in all caps, the fact that it's referring to the essential heart of your vehicle...who wouldn't worry? But before rushing to your auto provider's service department, there is one simple thing that you can do- check your gas cap. A loose gas cap can trigger your check engine light because of an improper amount of pressurization in your vehicle's fuel system. Basically, this just means that when your cap isn't appropriately tightened, harmful gas vapors can escape into the air. So the next time that you find this ominous little red warning staring back at you, just take a moment to turn your gas cap until you hear it "click" once or twice. Please note that if the gas cap is the cause of the check engine light, it may be a few minutes before it disappears. Hopefully this works and you've just saved yourself a trip to the dealership. However, if you notice that it's been nearly an hour since you've tightened the cap and the light is still illuminated, then you may want to give the service department a ring.

You can make an appointment with the Sims Auto Park service department by visiting www.SimsBuickGMC.com. And remember that through our Pit Stop Deal, all Sims customers can get their vehicle's fluids topped off for FREE!

6 Impressive Features of the 2013 Nissan Altima

2013 Nissan Altima
The newest addition to the Sims Auto Park lot

1. Fuel Economy (MPG): 38 Highway 27 City
With gas prices jumping higher and higher by the end of each day, who wouldn't love to get more out of the $60+ that's being spent to fill their tank? This increasing cost of gas is unavoidable, but having a vehicle with an efficient fuel economy makes the reach for your wallet less painful. Autoblog.com even states that the 2013 Altima is "...the best four-cylinder fuel economy of any midsize sedan, and that's without the use of any electric motors, turbochargers or even direct injection".

2. Nissan Intelligent Key
The Nissan Intelligent Key is an incredibly handy technological advancement in the realm of convenience. A small fob, which acts as a sensor, is all that you need to start your car...well, opposable thumbs also help. As long as you have this little device with you, your car is able to start with just a foot on the brake and the push of a button. Pretty neat, right?

3. Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System
This is a fantastic tool for safe driving, especially for young drivers who can't stand to be out of touch for even a moment. With the Bluetooth Hands-Free phone system, the controls for your phone's music player are located on the steering wheel- literally at your fingertips. This device also allows you to make phone calls without even touching your cell phone; letting you devote your focus to the road rather than a keypad.

4. Advanced Drive-Assist Display
Nissan summarizes it best, stating that the Advanced Drive-Assist Display "brings relevant information closer to eye level keeping your eyes on the road". This type of information ranges from navigation directions to incoming phone calls. The 4 inch LCD screen is located right on the dashboard behind the steering wheel, making distractions less distracting.

5. Xtronic CVT
This attribute is one that will really appeal to all of the auto fanatics out there. The Xtronic CVT (CVT meaning continuous variable transmission) reduces friction by up to 40%, giving the driver a much smoother ride. Not to mention providing the vehicle with improved acceleration and fuel economy.

6. UV-Reducing Solar Glass
Pretty self-explanatory. The windows of the new Altima are manufactured with glass that is able to shield passengers from harmful UV rays. USATODAY.com has an interesting article with statistics that correlate time spent in the car to the development skin cancer on the left side of the body.

Sims Buick History

So, you know that we're a car dealership that features Buick's, GMC's, and Nissan's- but we would like to tell you a little more about who we are and where we came from.  Our owners, Bill and Ken Sims, are originally from Cleveland.  Before getting into the car business, Bill and Ken's father began his entrepreneurial career with his own furniture store.  Not long after, their father and uncles got together and opened a Buick franchise in Euclid in 1953.  Then, one by one, each of the Sims brothers branched out and opened their own Buick dealerships; that's how Sims Buick GMC ended up on Elm Road in Warren in 1973.  The store was sold to the next generation of the Sims brothers, Bill and Ken, in 1989 and we've been continuing to thrive ever since!  We are currently working on renovating our dealership with a total remodel of our lot, as well as updating the look of our showroom!

Ken Sims is married and lives in Warren, Ohio where he enjoys golfing, skiing, and cooking with his three children.  Bill Sims is also a fan of skiing and golfing, and recently took up tennis.  The Sims brothers are both involved in the American Heart Association charity as well.
